My name is Jacek Leja, a native speaker from the United States, also CELTA certified. I wanted to become a teacher because I love working with people, and I know that I can help them acheive their goals when it comes to learning the English language. I have a knack for connecting with people, and have a warm, empathetic approach to teaching my lessons to students. Connecting with people on a personal level, along with gaining their trust is very important, as the students become more motivated to learn. I use a few different teaching methods, but find that having a Teacher-Centered, Inquiry and Technology Enhanced hybrid approach works best for me. All of my sessions with students are customized to what they wish to concentrate on, as well as areas that I believe will benefit them the most. This way the students get what they want out of our lessons. Seeing students apply what they learn from my lessons and watching them grow brings me great satisfaction. For example, having a student who has had issues with using proper tenses in the past and seeing them use past simple, past continious, and past perfect correctly is pure bliss. In my spare time, I collect vinyl records and spend my time going to concerts and listening to music. I had a radio show back in Chicago that helped promote local music talent for almost 10 years, and plan to reboot my show here in Poland soon. I also try to do 2 very important things each day. One is listen to an album that I have never heard before in its entirety, and the other is to make at least one person laugh every day.
